  • The heroes sang and danced to Baccara’s 70’s hit ‘Yes Sir, I Can Boogie’
  • The song was a reference to a video made by defender Andy Considine

After 22 years of pain – there was a certain song that the Scottish squad blared in the locker room after their heroic penalties that saw them book their place at Euro 2020.

Steve Clarke’s men qualified for their first major tournament since 1998 with David Marshall the hero as goalkeeper who saved Aleksandar Mitrovic’s penalty kick to send his side through.

There were wild parties after full time when Andy Robertson and Co toasted their victor over Serbia with a beer and a dance. Fans might have thought it would have been The Proclaimers of Bay City Rollers on the playlist, but instead it was Baccara’s 1970s classic ‘Yes Sir, I Can Boogie’ – a tune-defender Andy Considine has been all about knows too well.

The Aberdeen man recorded a now infamous video of him dancing to the song during his bachelor party, which was shared on YouTube in 2015.

In the clip, Considine is dressed in drag as he walks around and mimics to the hit as his friends and family dance with him.

The defender, who had a face full of makeup including bright red lipstick, wore a blue check mini skirt, stockings and a bra top for the funny video.

While Considine didn’t wear the same clothes in Belgrade, he sang and danced with his teammates again.

The Scotland national team Twitter account shared the video with Captain Robertson, Leigh Griffiths and Kieran Tierney, among others.

Considine was an unused substitute on the evening, but was in the middle of the festivities as he threw himself into the group of players.

It was an emotional night for the Tartan army to head to England in Group D at the tournament this summer.

Ryan Christie’s goal in the 54th minute seemed to be enough to see Clarke’s side in normal time, but a 90-minute equalizer by Luka Jovic forced another 30 minutes of play time.

Scotland stuck to the penalties, while Griffiths, Callum McGregor, Oli McBurnie Scott McTominay and Kenny McLean all scored. Serbia had turned all their spot kicks until Marshall saved the fifth from Mitrovic.

Christie, who had been substituted in the 87th minute, had to watch the penalties from the bench. The Celtic man was in tears by the time of his post-game interview.

“This is a great night,” he told Sky, trying to hold back tears. “I think we believed from the start, the last few camps we’ve picked up so much faith from each other.

Granted that late equalizer, digging in, it’s penalties away from home and Big Marshy comes up again. Unbelievable. Those punishments are probably the hardest I’ve ever been through. ‘

“ The whole nation (has had a hard time) and we knew that when we came in, ” Christie added, visibly suffocated as he interrupted his interview to unwind.

“It has been a terrible year for everyone and we knew we could give something for this country. I hope everyone at home has a party tonight. It’s a monkey off our back. ‘

Christie and teammate John McGinn sadly had to miss all the dressing room dancing as they had a quieter period in the drug testing facility.

Scotland’s Twitter account also swore there is ‘No Scotland’. No Party ‘as the Tartan Army prepares for their first major tournament since 1998.
