Jordan Henderson ruled out from clash between Liverpool and Arsenal after picking up knockout in Chelsea win

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson will miss Monday’s visit to Arsenal as he has not yet fully recovered from the knockout that forced him into Sunday’s half-time win at Chelsea.

The absence of the English midfielder increases the chances of a first start for newcomer Thiago Alcantara, who was Henderson’s replacement at Stamford Bridge.

‘We shall see. We have a few days to practice, some players have to recover from last night (the 7-2 Carabao Cup win over Lincoln), but he is in conflict, ” said manager Jurgen Klopp.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Henderson is not back in training after his injury against Chelsea

Klopp also received good news with Joe Gomez on the verge of returning to training to allow him to recover his first choice as a center-back after having to play midfielder Fabinho there last weekend.

Joe should be back in training today. Billy the Kid (17-year-old center-back Billy Koumetio) is back in training. Joel (Matip) is not. Hendo is not there yet, this match is certainly too early. ‘

New arrival Thiago impressed after replacing Henderson at Stamford Bridge, and Jurgen Klopp hinted he could make his first start for the Reds.

‘We shall see. We have a few days to train, some guys need to recover so we’ll see how we do it.

‘I have an idea, but we have time until Monday. He (Thiago) is definitely in the fray. Let’s take a look.’
