Colin Farrell Teases Stories In ‘The Batman’ Spinoff

The penguin star Colin Farrell teased some exciting storylines for the upcoming spinoff series for Batman.

After the release of Matt Reeves’ Batman, it was officially announced that a spinoff series titled the penguin, with Colin Farrell reprising his role as Oswald Cobblepot, was greenlit for HBO Max. The upcoming series is said to chronicle Oswald’s rise in Gotham City’s criminal underworld.

The upcoming series is set to begin production sometime next year, and Colin Farrell has also teased that Batman director Matt Reeves appears to be heavily involved in this upcoming series, which is set to be the first spinoff in this universe that looks to expand beyond Robert Pattinson’s films. Farrell teased these details about The Penguin and Reeves’ involvement on Entertainment Tonight:

“He’s so obsessed with what he’s doing, but he’s over it [HBO Max’s] The penguin [series] as well. I mean, he’s not going to direct it, but he’s all over the structure of the scripts and who’s going to direct them. And then it’s exciting.”

Along with Colin Farrell’s The penguin series, Matt Reeves’ Batman the universe seeks to expand further. Another series in the works is said to be focused on Arkham Asylum. Previously, a Gotham Police Department series was also in development, but that project has since been shelved. Along with additional HBO Max spinoff series, a sequel to the acclaimed film is also in development.
