Which Avengers are active in the MCU’s phase four? – newsdubai
Phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has not been without problems. Shuffle production schedules and delayed release dates due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic seemed to derail the MCU’s original timeline. Phase four was already off to a rocky start as most of the entertainment industry was in this trying time. However, this did not stop Marvel Studios from unveiling a number of new content: several feature films, as well as live-action TV shows released directly to Disney+, so that Marvel fans were not without their superhero fix for long. Unfortunately, following the mega-successful Infinity Saga, this phase four expansion has not been well received by audiences, and many are saying that the MCU is now becoming also saturated with content, making it more confusing to keep track of the many players currently roaming the multiverse.
Navigating the emotional aftermath of universe-altering events like the ones in is no easy feat Avengers: Infinity War and Final gameand phase four’s task was to provide insight into a topic often overlooked in superhero movies: what happens after save the world? Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff heroically sacrificed their lives for the good of the universe, while Steve Rogers chose to go back and return the Infinity Stones to their proper timelines before staying in the past to be with the love of his life Peggy Carter. At the end of Final game, The Avengers, as they were known over the course of 23 films, were in shambles, leaving a few questions for the future of the MCU. So is there currently an operating team of Avengers in the MCU right now? And if so, who are they?
One of Marvel’s latest titles, She-Hulk: Lawyer, featured quick dialogue from a reporter asking Jen Walters if it was true that “The Avengers turned her down.” This raises the question of Which one Avengers was the reporter specifically referencing and were they actively working under the title “Avengers?” To be technical, a quick reference to Captain America’s iconic line from the final battle Avengers: Endgame would imply that every hero in that battle was now an Honorary Avenger, meaning that pretty much every super-powered or enhanced person from across the galaxy is an Avenger at this point, including King Valkyrie of Asgard and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
However, leaving out the “original” Avengers from Joss Whedon’s 2012 film of the same title, the only remaining members are Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk/Smart-Hulk, Clint Barton’s Hawkeye, and Thor Odinson, the God of Thunder. While Hawkeye explored Clint’s soft retirement from his work as an Avenger, it also introduced his successor, Kate Bishop, hinting that Kate may very well be the Hawkeye of the next team of official Avengers, or perhaps even lead a Young Avengers franchise. Thor is still saving lives across the cosmos, but it seems he hasn’t returned to Earth since the events of Final gameinstead choosing to go on a soul-searching mission to open his heart again, which unfolded in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
While She-Hulk has given some insight into Bruce Banner’s whereabouts since Avengers: Endgame, it hasn’t really given much clarity on whether or not Bruce has asserted himself since he almost lost his life bringing half the universe back into existence. While there are implications in She-Hulk This suggests that Bruce’s story in the MCU is far from over, it seems that his days as an official Avenger are over and he now functions more in a consultant or mentor role.
This transition to a more off-side role can be inferred from the post-credits scene Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringswhich marks Banner’s first phase four appearance alongside fellow Avengers Wong and Carol Danvers or Captain Marvel. Banner, Danvers, and Wong act as a virtual council for Shang and Katy, who investigate the Ten Rings and try to determine their origins, though none are able to provide any explanation for their ancient power. At first glance, this may appear to be the current Avengers, although some have also suggested that this could be the basis of an Earth-616 Illuminati.
However, Danvers spends the majority of her time off-world investigating the cosmos and protecting the inhabitants of several galaxies across the universe, which would potentially keep her too busy to be an active Avenger on Earth. This is reflected in the fact that she first appeared to help the original Avengers in Final game and was absent from the majority of the film until its ultimate final battle despite being objectively one of the most powerful heroes in the MCU at the time. Wong has also been up quite a bit since Final gameand becomes Sorceror Supreme between the finale Avengers movies and Infinity War while Stephen Strange was captured, fighting in Xu Xialing’s underground club against Emil Blonsky’s Abomination and trying to save the multiverse from Wanda Maximoff.
Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson (Captain America) are also two characters to remember. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showed Marvel fans first-hand the effects of half of all life being wiped from the universe and suddenly restored, and the after effects they had on all living beings involved. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier also served as a metamorphosis for both Bucky and Sam; Sam took on the responsibility that came with carrying the shield Steve gave him at the end of Final game, as Bucky made peace with his past. It is unclear what either has been up to since.
With the announcement that two more Avengers movie is coming in phase six, fans are speculating exactly Which one The Avengers will appear in these films. A big part of phase four has been introducing a new cast of characters — some of whom fall on the younger side of the age spectrum, perhaps suggesting a Young Avengers or even West Coast Avengers franchise is on the horizon — and these new heroes will no doubt play a big role in these upcoming films, regardless of their official title.
