Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings called former Birmingham midfielder Jude Bellingham a ‘fantastic talent’ after his first call-up to the England squad.
The 17-year-old was originally included in the Under-21 squad, but was promoted to Gareth Southgate’s senior camp after both Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold and Southampton player James Ward-Prowse withdrew due to injury.
Bellingham moved from Sky Bet Championship side Birmingham to Borussia Dortmund during the summer and has played in the Bundesliga six times.

Bellingham only made his Birmingham debut last season, but the club chose to retire his number 22 jersey in honor of what he had achieved at St Andrew’s after moving to Germany.
“I’ve had the chance to see him in training for the past few days, and what fantastic talent he looks like,” Mings said at an English press conference on Tuesday.
‘I know he’s from the blue side of Birmingham, but I have no problem admitting what a fantastic player he is and what a fantastic boy he looks like.
To someone who has accomplished so much in such a short time, he seems very grounded and humble.
“It’s a great opportunity for him, and fair play for him.”
