The latest iOS 14 leaks include a new fitness app, extensive pencil support, and more

Yesterday 9to5Mac posted details of various new features that it found in supposed non-released iOS 14 code, and now MacRumors contributes to the flood of leaks in a series of messages. It is not clear that all of these features are specifically related to iOS 14, but they all sound like the things that could fit with a major software upgrade from Apple.
First is one new fitness app with the code name “Seymour” and possibly Fit or Fitness in the shipping form. It is said that it is a standalone app that focuses on iOS 14, watchOS 7 and tvOS 14, rather than a replacement for the current activity app. Reportedly, with the new app, you can download fitness videos with different workouts and activities that you can perform while the Apple Watch tracks your session, potentially increasing the types of exercises that the Watch can be used for.
iOS 14 is also set to one new API called PencilKit allowing the Apple Pencil to be used in more situations. It allows handwriting recognition and conversion in regular text input fields, which is currently not a standard function; MacRumors says you can use this to use the pencil to enter text into apps such as Messages, Mail, Calendar and others. Third-party developers apparently also get some form of access to PencilKit.
iMessage can also be some new functions in iOS 14, although none of them sound much more than what is already standard UI in many other chat apps. Allegedly, Apple is testing features such as @ tagging contacts in group chat, unsent messages, an / me status update function, and the ability to mark messages as unread. MacRumors warns that these tweaks are only during testing and may not see a release.
And last but not least, MacRumors has some details on Apple’s long rumored item tracking tags. They will be called AirTags, a name that was previously released and that probably uses CR2032 button batteries. If you pull a tab on the AirTag, it is activated according to the report and can then be linked to an iPhone or iPad by closing it. MacRumors notes, however, that this is based on an AirTag prototype and points out that inductive charging in Apple Watch style also rumors.
9to5MacApple’s leaks meanwhile include details about new features for watchOS 7, improved mouse support in iPadOS, blood oxygen monitoring for the Apple Watch and further signs that Apple is planning to release its own over-ear headphones.
