We’re still about a year away from HBO’s “The Last of Us” TV series, but excitement for it recently got a boost when an HBO promo trailer included the first few seconds of footage.

It seems that it’s not just Naughty Dog fans who are excited for what’s to come, but the folks at Naughty Dog themselves.

Matthew Gallant served as designer on the original game and as game director for the ‘Part 1’ remake, which hit stores last week. Speaking to EW, he’s basically giddy about the short footage of the HBO series he saw, and how it’s clear those responsible pay attention to detail:

“It gave me goosebumps to see [HBO] trailer, as little footage as it was. I felt like I wanted to watch it over and over and catch all the little details.

They really, really care about the art direction. The two-second clip of the infected embedded in the wall. It looks like it’s just out of the game. This is what the characters’ outfits look like. The way certain lines are delivered in the trailer.

That is often not true in video game adaptations. They often take really big creative license with the original franchise. It looks like it’s just going to be so authentic to the original games. And as someone who loves the original games, I’m so excited to see it explored in another medium.”

The live-action series is executive produced and co-written by “Chernobyl” creator Craig Mazin and original game writer Neil Druckmann. Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Jeffrey Pierce, Merle Dandridge, Murray Bartlett and Nick Offerman star.
