Enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, fake dating turned into something more, and even a touch of good old-fashioned forced intimacy – the best romance books of 2022 are filled with the genre’s most beloved tropes. If you love nothing more than curling up with a rom-com or a weepy romance, this is your year. From contemporary love stories to historical romance novels to romantic tales with just the right amount of magic, there’s no shortage of swoon-worthy books coming your way.
The best part: it looks like all of the genre’s most popular authors are serving up new books in 2022. Farrah Rochon, Tessa Bailey, Jasmine Guillory, and Emily Henry are just a handful of the best-selling romance authors churning out must-read rom-coms this year. Meanwhile, the overachiever of the year award goes to “Boyfriend Material” writer Alexis Hall, who doesn’t have one, but thaw new rom-coms hit bookshelves (and e-readers) in 2022.
While we love seeing our favorite authors create new couples to fall in love with, there are also plenty of exciting romance debuts this year. By the time 2023 rolls around, you’re sure to have more than a few new authors to add to your must-read list. Ready to dive into the best romance novels of the year? Read on for every book that needs to be on your TBR in 2022.
