All 90s kids can get ready to take on a nostalgia ride when Archie Andrews and his friends return, but with a twist. The Archies universe gets one Indian adaptation which is controlled by Zoya Akhtar. The film features an ensemble featuring debutants Agastya Nanda (Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter), Suhana Khan (Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter) and Khushi Kapoor (Sridevis’ daughter). The first look of the film was released by Netflix on Saturday.

By sharing the teaser on Twitter, Netflix wrote: “The sun is out, the news is out! Come and meet your new friends. Presents for you the cast of The Archies, directed by the amazing Zoya Akhtar.” The Archies is supposed to be a musical set in the 60s.

All three youngsters are similar to their comics, but with noticeable adjustments. Suhana sports long black hair, just like Veronica, while Khushi sports bangs. Agastya did not have Archie’s famous red hair, but he appeared to have had his locks curled in the character’s style with a light red tinge.

The film’s official logline reads: “A musical experience bursting with youth, rebellion, friendships, first love and all the young adults, still promises to have something for every generation. We can not wait to see the new kids on the block! ” The ad video has a music track by Ankur Tiwari playing in the background.

There have long been rumors about Suhana’s acting debut. She first spoke about her ambitions in a Vogue interview in 2018. “I do not think there was a moment where I decided. Since I was young, I have made all these accents and impressions. But my parents first realized, “I was serious about acting when they saw my performance for the first time. I played Miranda in a school show of The Tempest,” she said.

The Archies began production in April, and producer Reema Kagti shared a board from the first day of filming, writing on Instagram: “Archies shoot starts, Tiger Baby’s first solo production #partnerincrime @zoieakhtar @Netflix.”

Zoya Akhtar had previously said that the comic has been a part of her childhood and adolescence. “I’m super excited to have the chance to bring The Archies to life. It was a big part of my childhood and adolescence. The characters are iconic and globally loved, and that’s also why I’m a little nervous. I have to to make sure the film evokes the nostalgia of a generation that grew up with the cartoon and yet resonates with the young adults of today, “Akhtar said in a statement.

The Archies, also starring Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Vedang Raina and Yuvraj Menda, will stream on Netflix in 2023.
