Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Hamriya Municipality confirmed to Al Ittihad that Hamriyah Municipality is working in accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Councilor and Ruler of Sharjah, to provide the best services in the various works of the municipality, as the Hamriyah Municipality intensified its efforts, achieved qualitative leaps in the Beach Services in the Hamriyah Region, through all its resources from the various departments and sections, and meeting the requirements of the strategic plans that express the municipality’s ambitious vision to achieve global results by including high-quality beach services that will improve the opportunities for the sustainable development process and the general direction of the Emirate of Sharjah as it receives. The city has 16,000 visitors per month.

Al Shamsi spoke about the most prominent beach services, indicating that it is based on the vision of the Sharjah government in the field of sustainability and environmental management, and to address some of the observed environmental phenomena and with the aim of increasing environmental awareness among visitors and supporting safety and security measures achieved Hamriyah Municipality the standards and requirements of the global blue flag program, after taking advantage of all its opportunities. And its efforts to ensure sea water quality, environmental education and environmental management for Hamriyah beach from the International Foundation for Environmental Education “FEE” after evaluating all the criteria used to evaluate beaches and marinas that follow strict standards regarding water quality, education, environmental information and environmental management as well as public safety and services to make Hamriyah Beach within the international beaches included in this list, giving him the right to raise the blue flag on Hamriyah Beach.
Regarding the most prominent development efforts made to improve beach services, Al Shamsi stated that Hamriyah Municipality provided an environmentally friendly mass transportation with electric cars, in addition to providing a service with manual carts to transport luggage free of charge from the parking lot to the beach park, and make wheelchairs available for people with disabilities as well as services for disabled people. Swimming chair for the elderly and disabled, providing sources for the sale of clean water and snacks to meet the needs of visitors and tourists, providing umbrellas for beachgoers with the allocation of umbrellas for the elderly and disabled, and providing maritime hygiene boats equipped with various equipment , capabilities and equipment for the safe collection of waste from the sea and the beach in Hamriyah Public safety measures were taken into account during all operations related to waste collection, transport and unloading.
Al Shamsi touched on the most prominent public safety and security measures erected at Hamriyah beach, represented by the provision of specialized lifeguards along the length of the beach, in addition to providing high rescue platforms operating with renewable energy, in addition to defining places designated for swimming and the provision of water bikes for quick intervention to avoid cases of drowning, in addition to providing a first aid unit, referring to the high coordination with the sea rescue to continuously provide rescue patrols at sea, especially during peak times.

Al Shamsi said: Hamriyah Municipality is constantly working to launch programs and events that increase the requirements of public beach safety and security, due to the municipality’s belief in the importance of awareness and guidance in environmental sustainability and preservation of the environment, by continuing to launch information workshops and programs and events aimed at the public at Hamriyah Beach, where the priority is the continuity in the implementation of the “Your Safety First” initiative, which is organized by the municipality during the summer on the beach regarding awareness and guidance, as well as the continuation of the implementation of the “Safety First” event, which was organized in cooperation with the Child Safety Department, in addition to the implementation of the awareness campaign “My City is Beautiful.” slogan “Hand in hand towards a healthy environment in the Hamriyah region”, and targets visitors at the Hamriyah sea and beach, and aims to protect the environment and achieve sustainable environmental development to maintain the environmental level of Hamriyah.

Inspection trips
On the inspection trips, Al Shamsi explained that the Municipal Control and Inspection Department conducted 1,008 inspection trips during the second quarter of 2022 and pointed out that the violations committed are: two violations of barbecues on green areas and beaches, three violations of distortion of general appearance, two violations of dumping waste and the same in accompanying animals.
