Additionally, Brandon Ingram (head damage) and Herbert Jones (knee) shall be questionable in any case three escaped critical damage within the workforce’s extra time loss to the Utah Jazz on Sunday.

“Z’s fall might have been loads worse and doesn’t seem like,” Pelicans head coach Willie Inexperienced stated Monday. “Wounds. Bruises. Brandon getting hit within the face. Herb’s knee. Nothing catastrophic, however one thing we’ll have to observe over the subsequent few days… We’ll see how they do as we undergo the taking pictures spherical and goes from there.”

Williamson’s damage was probably the most notable, not simply due to his damage historical past, however the way in which it occurred. Late within the fourth quarter, he received free on the fastbreak for what seemed to be a showtime dunk. As a substitute, Jordan Clarkson got here out of nowhere for an unbelievable block.

The power of Clarkson’s block knocked Williamson off stability and he crashed to the ground on his again. Williamson didn’t return to the sport because the Pelicans used a 17-point comeback to power an additional body earlier than ultimately dropping on a last-second shot by Kelly Olynyk.

It’s unclear how a lot time — if any — Williamson will miss, however given his lengthy damage historical past, the Pelicans will definitely be cautious in dealing with this. Earlier than leaving the sport towards the Jazz, Williamson was already as much as 25 factors, six rebounds and two blocks. By way of the primary three video games of the season, he averaged 22 factors, 6.7 rebounds and a pair of.3 assists, and was again to his bulldozing methods each time he headed downhill towards the rim.

When Williamson is wholesome, the Pelicans regarded like a risk within the Western Convention. Nonetheless, if he has to overlook any time, it can derail the early season success that this workforce has put collectively.
