New ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies within the works at Warner Bros

LOS ANGELES – The Warner Bros film studio is creating new installments within the blockbuster “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” franchises based mostly on the J.R.R. Tolkien novels set within the fictional world of Center-earth, firm executives introduced on Thursday.

Warner Bros, owned by Warner Bros Discovery WBD.N, mentioned it had reached a multi-year settlement to collaborate on new movies with Center-earth Enterprises, a unit of Embracer Group AB EMBRACb.ST.

“The Lord of the Rings” movie trilogy, which started in 2001, received 17 Oscars. Three “Hobbit” movies had been launched beginning in 2012. The six movies, directed by Peter Jackson, hauled in additional than $6 billion at world field places of work.

“For all of the scope and element lovingly packed into the 2 trilogies, the huge, complicated and dazzling universe dreamed up by J.R.R. Tolkien stays largely unexplored on movie,” Warner Bros. Photos Group co-chairs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy mentioned in a press release. – Reuters
