Jose Mourinho explains what he wants from his next job after stance on Arsenal role revealed

Jose Mourinho has revealed what he wants from his next club as speculation continues to link him with a move to Arsenal.

The former Manchester United and Chelsea boss has been out of work since leaving Old Trafford in December 2018.

After almost a year away from the game, the Portuguese coach is stepping up his searching for a new job, with reports suggesting he is holding out for another Premier League post.

Mourinho could become the first manager to win a trophy with three separate English clubs, should he enjoy more success in the Premier League with another team.

His odds of making a sensational switch to Arsenal have been slashed in recent days, with the pressure growing on Unai Emery. According to reports, Mourinho is ‘open’ to the Arsenal job should it ever become available.

The Gunners sit fifth in the Premier League table, four points behind Chelsea who occupy the final lucrative Champions League position.

Emery’s team selections, not least the ostracisation of Mesut Ozil, combined with a patch of frustrating results have split the Arsenal fan base.

To make matters worse, they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup on penalties after a sensational 5-5 draw against much-weakened Liverpool line-up.

However, Mourinho has offered a hint at what he is looking for from his next job, amid constant speculation he could become the next man in the Emirates dugout.

Mourinho stated

“The only thing that I know is what I don’t want, and what I don’t want is crystal clear. What I want, the general profile of course, but I can’t say clubs or countries.

“I am quite pathological in this sense that I have to play to win, and then if I win or I don’t win that’s my problem, and the players’ and the club’s and the structure.

“But I need a project where the feeling is I play to win.

“If someone gives me a wonderful, incredible, amazing, 10-year contract and tells me ‘the objective of the team is to stay in the first part of the table, if you finish seventh or eighth or ninth it is perfect, that’s not for me.

“That’s my nature. Of course, sometimes I remember what I won before, but it’s not me, so my next is to fight to win.”
