‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Director James Gunn Defends MCU’s Drax – newsdubai

Director James Gunn closed a complaint about the portrayal of Dave Bautista’s Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy movie with muted response on social media.

Dave Bautista first appeared as Drax in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The character is known for his overly literal understanding of the world and his deadpan simplicity. However, Gunn has recently pointed out that Drax is not a simple one-note character.

In a recent post, James Gunn shut down a fan who had accused Drax of lacking depth Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

On Twitter, a fan had asked for Drax “to have a hint of depth beyond just being a walking meme,” and James Gunn was quick to point out that their claim just didn’t line up with what’s been shown in Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

In a direct response to criticism of Dave Bautista’s Drax the Destroyer, James Gunn tweeted “Give me a break.” along with a picture of Drax and Mantis from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The image depicted a touching scene in which Mantis revealed Drax’s deep-seated pain from his daughter’s death.

James Gunn has not only hit the true depth of Drax’s character, but touched on something that applies to many MCU characters. While there are several fans who are quick to criticize Marvel’s humorous characterizations, it’s often the case that that humor deliberately masks—or is even a reaction to—the deeper pain and trauma that drives such characters.

Before they return to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, James Gunn’s lovable misfits recently appeared in Thor: Love and Thunder. Here is the synopsis:

Together, they embark on a harrowing cosmic adventure to unravel the mystery of God Butcher’s revenge and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the Thor solo film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff in the main roles. , Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
