Fortnite now has helicopters

Helicopters are now in Fortnite. The latest update to the Battle Royale game has added the flying vehicles, as well as a handful of other welcome features, including map changes and a redesigned locker. It’s a big shift, but one that goes well with the last season’s secret agent theme. The helicopters can be used by up to four players at a time, making them ideal for squad play, and seem to fit Deadpool’s mysterious look in the game’s new season. They join boats as the only current vehicles in the game. You can find them anywhere on the map, although at the moment there is generally a fight to take control first.

This is of course not the first plane to be seen in the game. Long time Fortnite players will remember the planes added in Season 7, which caused so much damage that they were eventually removed a season later.

Today’s update also includes some changes to the island: there has been an explosion on the oil rig that has destroyed the base and left a dramatic oil spill, and the football field in Pleasant Park has been opened and a hidden helipad has been revealed. There is also a new spy-themed LTM.

Perhaps the most important change – at least for old players who have collected a lot of stuff – is a new locker that makes it easier to access your cosmetics like skins and emotes. Not only does the locker have a more streamlined design, but it also allows you to create preset gear, so you don’t have to tinker with every option to equip your favorite outfit.

The update also includes a handful of bug fixes; you can view the full list here.
