Fitbit Charge 4 is leaking, much like the Fitbit Charge 3

The Fitbit Charge 4 – the upcoming replacement for the 2018 Charge 3 fitness tracker – has been revealed this week in a series of leaks, including the last of 9to5Google that reveals the design. In short: it looks almost identical to the Fitbit Charge 3.

That makes sense, since the Charge 3 just brought a major redesign to the product line when it was released in 2018. It’s also a very well-designed Fitbit, so it’s hard to say Fitbit too much to stick to a design that works. The similar design also means that Charge 3 owners can still use their old bands with the new model.

It is still not entirely clear what new functions the Charge 4 will offer over the Charge 3. Federal Communications Commission listings does not seem to indicate that the built-in GPS – one of the main missing features of the old model – will appear on the Charge 4. 9to5Google speculates that Fitbit may add an always-on display, similar to the screen it added on the Versa 2. And the FCC listing indicates that Fitbit NFC may make it a standard feature, as opposed to a feature limited to the Special Edition models (as was the case with previous versions of the Charge).

Fitbit hasn’t officially announced the Charge 4 yet, so we’ll likely have to wait for the official word to find out what the major changes are to the product’s internal or software side. But with all of these leaks popping up, it probably won’t be long before a more formal announcement arrives.
