Fallout TV Series: Everything We Know So Far

Are you prepared for the future? Well, you better be, for Prime Video’s adaptation of “Fallout” is pushing forward. Production is expected to begin sometime this year, and it will be the first time the franchise has ventured outside the gaming space and into multimedia. Seriously, there has never been any additional media for “Fallout” that did not involve games, both video and tabletop. This TV series will be a whole new territory for the franchise, which is appropriate given that not many details have yet been released about what it will be about.
That is not to say that we cannot gather what information we have. There is still plenty to wonder about, and a few interesting details about the project have been released to keep fans full. So get out of your vault, put on your robotic armor, and let’s dissect what we know so far about the upcoming and mysterious “Fallout” TV adaptation.
When and where to watch Fallout

We know one thing for sure about “Fallout”, and that is the fact that it will be streamed exclusively on Prime Video. There’s a lot you can say about Amazon developing a series in which much of the story involves capitalist greed in times of anxiety, but that’s another article for another time.
At least we know that Prime Video will be the streaming home for “Fallout”, as the platform has a first-glance deal with Kilter Films, the production company for “Westworld” creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. But when it will be released is a different story, as we do not even have a solid idea of when the show will begin filming. Several sources have said the show will begin production at some point this year, perhaps aiming for later in the year, but nothing concrete has been established yet. Here’s to hoping they start filming when they’re ready and that they don’t rush.
What we think Fallout will be about

It is not entirely clear whether “Fallout” will be based on a particular game. It has never been a series of recurring main characters or challenges, but reference is constantly made to elements from the larger world, such as the Great War, which transformed the United States into a nuclear wasteland. With this in mind, it’s likely that the actual TV series will be its own original story that lies within the timeline of the games.
This gives us a wide range of when the show can take place. Keep in mind that the prequel to all the other canonical “Fallout” games, “Fallout 76,” takes place in 2102, while the game that takes place most recently in the franchise, “Fallout 4,” takes place in 2287. “Fallout” series will likely to take place within the 185-year time frame, meaning there are tons of lore that can be explored. Aside from that and a few crumbs of character details, we are completely in doubt as to what the series will entail.
What we know about The Fallout Cast and Crew

This is where the few plot details about “Fallout” come in. There are not many, but they are definitely there! Ella Purnell and Walton Goggins have been cast to star in the series; Purnell is to play a girl named Jean with a “can-do attitude” and perhaps “a dangerous secret,” while Goggins has been speculated to play a creature infused with radiation called a ghoul. Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones and Aaron Moten have also been cast in the series in undisclosed roles. We’m not sure what types of characters Mendes-Jones and Moten will play outside of being survivors, but we can certainly see MacLachlan playing an Overseer, the term given to leaders in the Vault-Tec vaults who survivors live in.
The crew that brings “Fallout” to life are also not names to be mocked. Nolan and Joy will act as series creators and executive producers, with Nolan being used to direct the first few episodes. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner have also joined as showrunners and executive producers. Producing representatives of Bethesda, the IP holders of “Fallout”, include Bethesda Game Studios producer Todd Howard and Bethesda Softworks publishing director James Altman.
