Disney Exec can not say whether op-Ed caused Johnny Deep’s Pirates role loss

Disney Executive Tina Newman has stated that she is not aware of any role that Amber Heard’s Op-Ed played in Johnny Depp losing his The Pirates of the Caribbean role.

In what now feels like an eternity ago, Johnny Depp initiated several lawsuits against his ex-wife Amber Heard and various news media related to her. A lawsuit was filed against The Sun, in which the newspaper called him a wife-bitch. That lawsuit ended back in late 2020 with the court ruling against Depp.

Last year, a judge let the case against Amber Heard continue. This lawsuit was specifically against Heard for a statement she published in The Washington Post in which she claimed to be a survivor of domestic abuse. Her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, is suing her for this statement, claiming that it caused him, among other things, to lose his role in The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Since the trial began, both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have been talking about their flagship franchises for a long time. Johnny Depp has since stated that he has no interest in returning to The Pirates of the Caribbean part. Amber Heard has been talking for a long time about how the ongoing lawsuits are ruining her career and almost causing her to lose her role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, how her role in the film was reduced because of it and worries that she might not reach the final cut. Yet a Disney boss through all this is unaware of any role that the op-ed played in Depp losing his Pirates role.

In a video deposition, Disney production manager Tina Newman talked about Johnny Depp’s role in the film The Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Specifically, she talked about his jokes on the set of the 5th film, Dead Men Tell No Tales. However, she was not aware of any role that Amber Heard’s op-ed played in that he lost the role.

Johnny Depp made his debut as captain Jack Sparrow in the first Pirates movie, The curse of the black pearl in 2003. The film earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. The series continued with four more sequels, with the last one released back in 2017 in Dead Men Tell No Tales.

All five Pirates movies can be streamed on Disney Plus. Stay up to date with all the latest news on the ongoing slander case between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
