Deputy PM assured St. Vincent and the Grenadines will win CELAC presidency

Deputy Prime Minister Montgomery Daniel has expressed confidence that St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) will likely be elected to the presidency of the Neighborhood of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

He mentioned this was one of many causes for Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves’ visits to Brazil and Guyana this week.

Gonsalves introduced in December that Kingstown is hoping to imagine the presidency of CELAC, when the 33-member grouping holds its heads of presidency assembly in Argentina on January 24.

Daniel, talking on NBC Radio on Wednesday, expressed confidence that SVG will change into the primary CARICOM nation to change into president of CELAC, which was based in December 2011.

“I wish to point out that whereas the prime minister is on the street visiting Brazil and Guyana, the prime minister can also be looking for help for this nation, St. Vincent and Grenadines, to acquire the place of the presidency, the chair of CELAC,” Daniel mentioned.

He reminded that in 2019, SVG was elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Safety Council for a two-year time period.

“And, after all, we took up the place in 2020 on the United Nations, once more, one other nice second for this small nation of our St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” Daniel added.

He mentioned by the work of Prime Minister Gonsalves, the federal government is “attempting to seize one other nice second, one other historic second for St. Vincent.

“I’m certain that we’ll acquire the presidency and I’m certain that after once more there will likely be one other nice second for St. Vincent and Grenadines,” Montgomery Daniel mentioned.

The deputy prime minister mentioned Gonsalves “desires to make this nation proud once more”.
