Dakota Johnson shares frustration with Johnny Depp Amber & Heard lawsuit

Dakota Johnson has discussed the shock and frustration she felt about being drawn into the defamation case between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

Johnny Depp sued his ex-wife Amber Heard for defamation over comments in an op-ed about domestic abuse that Heard wrote to the Washington Post. Heard accused Depp of comments from his former lawyer. The jury ultimately found Depp’s advantage after a lengthy case in which the careers of both actors were examined and several productive stars were brought into the case. A clip involving Depp and Dakota Johnson went viral on social media during the case.

Dakota Johnson’s name began to trend on social media during the televised trial thanks to a clip in which the actress noticed Johnny Depp’s finger injury at a press conference. During the trial, Depp had testified that Amber Heard had cut off the tip of her finger with a vodka bottle during an altercation in 2015.

The clip in question came from a press conference for Black Mass, a movie starring Johnny Depp alongside Dakota Johnson. It shows Johnson apparently noticing Depp’s bandage finger and laughing after apparently explaining it away. All of this happens while the film’s director, Scott Cooper, is speaking, and so none of what is being said between Depp and Johnson is intercepted, and the exact nature of their interaction is unclear.

Dakota Johnson talked about the internet fixation on the clip during the trial, Dakota Johnson expressed her surprise and frustration at becoming a rallying point for people who watched the trial. She also shared her shock at the trivial way people got involved in the Johnny Depp / Amber Heard case. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Johnson said:

“I was thinking, ‘For God’s love, why? Why am I involved in this?’ God, if I was called to the witness stand? I can not believe people are watching [the trial] as if it were a show. It’s like it’s a courtroom drama and my heart is broken. It’s so, so, so crazy. People are so damn weird. The Internet is a wild, wild place. ”

The lawsuit is now closed, with Johnny Depp awarded more than $ 10 million in damages. Amber Heard was awarded $ 2 million in damages. It is understood that Heard is considering appealing the ruling.
