ABU DHABI, 7th September / WAM / Abu Dhabi City Municipality implemented a field campaign that included construction sites with the aim of raising public awareness of the requirements to apply safety standards in the heat and protect workers from the dangers of summer sunlight exposure and heat stress, and in the implementation of Resolution No. 42 of 2009 regarding the implementation of the occupational health and safety system at the emirate level, and Resolution No. 401 of 2015 on the establishment of working hours at noon issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, which requires that work stoppages for work carried out in sunlight and in open places must be fixed from 15 annually.

During the visits, the specialists of the Department of Environment, Health and Safety were eager to give a practical explanation to remind the workers and those responsible for the construction sites of the time of the work ban at noon and the importance of complying with this decision in order to maintain the safety of the workers and public health and to promote human values, which is a top priority in the UAE. The field work provided a practical explanation of the necessity to supply the workers with fluids continuously during working hours to avoid the risk of exhaustion, dehydration and other effects of lack of fluid in the workers’ bodies.
