Blue Origin unveils shiny new mission control room for future New Glenn rocket

Space company Blue Origin has finished building its mission control center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, where engineers will follow the launch of the company’s future New Glenn rocket. A new video shows the gleaming white space filled with curved rows of desks and monitors all placed in front of a giant screen.
The mission’s control room is located in the New Glenn rocket factory of Blue Origin, a giant facility on the Cape where the company has developed the huge orbital rocket in recent years. When completed, New Glenn is expected to be a large commercial competitor, towering above 95 meters, or 313 feet, high and capable of launching up to 45 tons, or nearly 100,000 pounds, in a low orbit around the Earth. Blue Origin has also designed the rocket so that it is partially reusable and can land on a floating platform at sea – similar to the Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX.
The new video from Blue Origin’s mission check comes just a week after the company showed another crucial part of the New Glenn program: the finished nose cone that will be on top of the rocket and shield satellites during the flight. Important pieces of the New Glenn puzzle come together. Now we only need the completed rocket so that all of these elements can be used. The New Glenn is expected to make its debut flight in 2021.
