Armie Hammer documentary comes under fire from alleged victim – newsdubai

Discovery+ launched their three-part documentary House of Hammer this weekend to an unforeseen development. While its creators, Ellie Hakami and Julian P. Hobbssaid they were inspired to produce the investigative series about Armie Hammer‘s alleged sexual assault to “break cycles of abuse”, Los Angeles Times has reported that one of Hammer’s accusers feels the project could do her more harm than good.

The 26-year-old European woman known as Effie, the first to make public allegations about Hammer’s alleged violent tendencies and the only one of Hammer’s accusers to charge him with rape, declined to be interviewed for the documentary. That Times quoting her as telling producers that “it is extremely inappropriate of you to exploit such a tragic, vulnerable time in many people’s lives, without any regard for our healing process and privacy.”

Hammer has denied all allegations of wrongdoing, and his lawyer, Andrew Brettlersays that all encounters with Effie and “every other of his sexual partners” were “completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance and mutually participatory.”

Effie’s claim against Hammer sparked the ongoing LAPD investigation against Hammer. Her post on her Instagram account in early 2021 inspired two of Hammer’s ex-girlfriends, Paige Lorenz and Courtney Vucekovich, to share stories about their relationship with the heiress and actor. Lorenze does not appear in the documentary, but Vucekovich does, as does Julia Morrisonwho never met Hammer but received disturbing DMs which she later turned into an NFT.

Despite Effie’s disinterest in appearing in the project, there are details about her experience, including photos from her Instagram and clips from the 2021 press conference where she alleged that Hammer raped her over the course of four hours.

“The way they have exploited my trauma is disgusting,” Effie said Los Angeles Times via a declaration. “When I keep screaming ‘no’ and they keep saying they don’t need my permission, they remind me of Armie.”

Effie has also accused her lawyer, the well-known feminist lawyer Gloria Allred, for not informing her that she was being interviewed for the film. Allred, the subject of a 2018 Netflix documentary, emailed the Times to say, “statements that I have made on behalf of clients have been made because the statements were consistent with our representation, were authorized either explicitly or implicitly, and were made because I believed the statements were in the client’s best interests .”

House of Hammer goes into detail about the Hammer family, its fortune and its many scandals – which you can read about in VF‘The Fall of the House of Hammer’ story. While the disgraced Call me by your name and Death on the Nile the actor spent part of the summer selling timeshares in the Cayman Islands, he is now reportedly back in Los Angeles.
