April 24 introduced as BVI election date


Residents of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) will vote for a brand new authorities on April 24.

Governor John Rankin has signed the proclamation detailing election day in accordance with Part 86 of the Virgin Islands Structure.

Part 86 states: “A normal election shall be held at such time inside two months, however not sooner than 21 days, after each dissolution of the Home of Meeting because the Governor shall appoint by proclamation revealed within the Gazette.”

The Home of Meeting was dissolved on March 10.

Advance polling shall be held on April 21.
