The young Emirati man, Saeed Al-Mansoori, produces 10 tons of the finest local figs annually on his farm in the Liwa area. He explained to Al-Bayan that he started the fig tree planting project a few years ago by planting only 100 trees in his farm, which today houses 5,000 fig trees, he places special emphasis on it through irrigation, soil and providing a suitable climate for it in greenhouses, which protects agricultural crops from the whims and pests of the weather, and helps to produce different types of vegetables and fruits in abundance, and in their usual seasons.

Al-Mansoori was recently keen to sell figs produced by his farm, amid wide demand and high demand from consumers.

Saeed Al-Mansoori said: The United Arab Emirates has become an agricultural country thanks to the wise and wise guidance of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul and his follow-up to agricultural development plans in the country where important agricultural projects have succeeded . All this made us, the young citizens, worry about using the land on our farms for agriculture and not neglecting them. Personally, I always strive to cultivate and experiment with different types of agriculture and search for varieties that can withstand the climate of the UAE, and are suitable for seasons all year round. And not only that, but also the cultivation of agricultural varieties that suit the local environment and soil. He added: I went to farming since I was 18 years old and started growing some types of vegetables, fruits and even flowers, and over the years I focused on growing varieties of fruits out of season, such as figs.

Al-Mansoori added: My farm in Liwa, under Emirati’s management, is filled with 5,000 fig trees today, and the results of today’s harvest are fortunately promising, as I annually produce 10 tonnes of figs in greenhouses that maintain a temperature suitable for growing fig trees, to ensure the production of figs all year round.

Al-Mansoori pointed out that his private reserve has all the conditions suitable for planting plants in any season of the year, without waiting for the original season, as his farm is also full of high-quality crops that are rarely found in the country.
