Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness has finally arrived, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster currently playing in theaters. The film not only marks the franchise’s biggest entry into the multiverse’s narrative tropes, but also director Sam Raimis’ long-awaited return to the world of comics after his work on Sony’s Spider-Man trilogy. Raimi has become a fan favorite over the years for his very distinctive work across multiple genres, as well as the various tropes and staples he puts into each project. One of these pillars has been a form of performance by his friend and frequent collaborator Bruce Campbell, who has been strongly rumored to perform in Multiverse of madness. Then Bruce Campbell joins Multiverse of madness – and what role does he play? Spoilers for Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness below! See only if you want to know!
The film takes an action-packed adventure through the multiverse with Stephen Strange / Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), who at one point see them fall in and out of different universes. Eventually, the pair ends up in reality called Earth-838, which appears to be a more utopian, technologically advanced world. America starts eating a bowl of “pizza balls” (which are literally spherical pieces of pizza) from a street vendor and tells Strange about how food is free in most of the universes she has visited. This then arouses the anger of the street vendor (played by Campbell), who presents himself as “Pizza Papa” and gets upset that they have not paid for the food. Strange outwitted him by throwing a spell that makes him slap himself in the face repeatedly – a spell that will apparently last for several weeks.
The audience then sees Campbell again Multiverse of madness‘last scene after credit, when Pizza Papa finally stops hitting himself in the face, causing him to look directly into the camera and exclaim “It’s over!”
This cameo comes after months of fans speculating about Campbell’s cameo in the film, a brand driven solely by the fact that Campbell often enchanted fans by suggesting he could play anything from an alternative Doctor Strange to Ash from Evil Dead- the movies. Campbell also recently indicated that his appearance of the film could very well have been left on the floor of the editing room, which fortunately was not the case.
“It’s hard with the Marvel movies, it’s hard even to lie because I could be caught like a liar in my lie. If I told you I think I’m not in it, I could still end up with being part of it, “Campbell previously said on Radio Labyrinth podcast. “They’re making about 86 of these films at the same time, so even Sam Raimi had to film additional material that was not in the original script.” spin him off here. ‘ So they have always had to add and subtract as they go. “
“Even if I were to make a pivotal cameo – because I only make pivotal cameos, and I can explain if you see it – we would not really know the answer until May,” Cambell added. “If I was [Doctor Strange actor] Benedict Cumberbatch, I would be worried that I would be cut out. ”
