War and Justice:
The case of Marine A

9 p.m., channel 4

“I don’t think I’m a murderer. I don’t think I was a murderer. I’m not a murderer.” Al Blackman – the former British soldier convicted of killing a Taliban insurgent in 2011 – is the subject of this forensically produced documentary. He tells his version of events along with the soldiers on duty with him and those involved in his case. Using newly recovered fight footage, this controversial film pieces together what happened – and looks at how Blackman’s conviction was eventually commuted to manslaughter. Hollie Richardson

Nerdy, gormless Idaho teenager Napoleon (Jon Heder) has little to recommend him except stubbornness in the face of daily humiliations. But finding a friend in a new boy at school Pedro (Efren Ramirez) and a possible girlfriend in Tina Majorino’s Deb gives him purpose. Director and co-writer Jared Hess apparently based the film on his own experiences growing up, which boggles the mind a bit as this brilliant deadpan comedy seems to exist in an eccentric world of its own.
