Joe Biden was mocked by viewers last night after pulling out his phone and playing the mega hit ‘Despacito’ during a Spanish campaign event in Florida.
A grinning Biden played the song into a microphone after it was introduced by Puerto Rican-American singer Luis Fonsi at the Tampa event, as the Democratic nominee Spanish seeks support in one of the major battleground states.
But critics accused Biden of “ giving in ” and mocking him for playing a song whose title translates as “ Slowly ” – evoking Donald Trump’s nickname “ Slow Joe. ”
Trump himself shared an edited video in which the song was changed to ‘F *** The Police’ by NWA, with the president asking, ‘What is this all about?’.

Trump retweeted a promoted version of the video that played ‘F *** the Police’
“What is this all about?” he asked about the edited video he reposted Tuesday night
Biden performed the song as he took the stage ahead of a speech at a Hispanic Heritage Month kickoff event in Kissimmee.
The video had him happily dancing to the song before saying, ‘I’ll tell you something – if I had the talent of one of these people, I’d be elected president by acclamation.’
This was Biden’s first trip to Florida as a nominee, when he launched an urgent mission to increase support among Latinos who could decide the election in one of the most ferocious battlefield states in the country.
The president has previously attacked his opponent, claiming that Biden supports the Defund The Police movement.
Even before Trump’s retweet, Biden faced some backlash for the actual video that featured “ Despacito. ”
“Oh my,” wrote CBS News political correspondent Ed O’Keefe.
Does @JoeBiden realize Despacito means “slow”? Suits Slow Joe well, ” added senior advisor to Trump-Pence campaign Mercedes Schlapp.
Another viewer said, “Joe Biden giving in to the Latino voice by playing Despacito is tight-fisted.”
A victory for Biden in Florida would dramatically narrow Trump’s path to reelection.
But in a state where elections are often decided by one percentage point, there are growing concerns that Biden might slip, especially among the state’s influential Latino voters.
“More than ever, the Hispanic community, the Latino community has the fate of this country in the palm of their hand,” Biden said at Tuesday’s event.
“You can determine the direction of this country.”
He was joined by several supporters, including actress Eva Longoria and singers Ricky Martin and Luis Fonsi.
An NBC Marist poll published last week found that Latinos in the state were roughly evenly split between Biden and Trump.
The moment was panned by some on social media, even with the correct number

Democrat Hillary Clinton led Trump by a 59 to 36 percent margin among Latinos in the same poll in 2016 – and Trump won Florida by about 1 percentage point.
To regain lost ground, Biden on Tuesday argued that he would be a better president for Hispanics than Trump, praising his commitment to immigration reform and a new plan to support Puerto Rico’s economy.
“Donald Trump has failed the Spanish community time and time again, and that’s no secret,” Biden said.
Whether it’s his heinous act of separating children from their families on our border, or his repeated attacks on Dreamers, or his neglect of Puerto Rico’s population following Hurricane Maria, or his repeated failure to ensure that essential workers have the personal protection equipment they need. ‘
Still, Latin American voters in Florida lean a little more toward Republicans than Spanish voters across the country because of the state’s Cuban American population.

Nationally, there is little public poll available to gauge the opinions of Latino voters this year and whether they differ from four years ago.
But Democrats don’t take chances.
Billionaire Mike Bloomberg has pledged to spend at least $ 100 million to beat Trump in Florida.
And by spending his day along what is known as the Interstate 4 corridor in central Florida, Biden spends time in one of the state’s most critical regions.
While Republicans typically post large numbers of posts in the northern and southwestern parts of the state and Democrats are strong in coastal cities, campaigns usually battle it out for every vote in central Florida.
Biden’s first event, in Tampa, was aimed at veterans and was meant to spur a possible opening with military voters, who broadly supported Mr. Trump in 2016 but are considered potentially compelling due to controversial comments the president reportedly made created by mocking American war dead as ‘losers’ and ‘suckers’.

Ricky Martin, a Puerto Rican singer, also spoke at the Joe Biden event in Florida
Trump has denied making the comments, first reported through anonymous sources by The Atlantic, but many of the comments were later confirmed by The Associated Press.
“Nowhere are his mistakes more blatant and offensive, at least to me, than when it comes to his denigration of our service workers, veterans, wounded warriors who have fallen,” Biden said.
Speaking of his late son Beau, who served overseas as a member of the Delaware Army National Guard, Biden said, “He’s gone now, but he’s not a fool.”
Biden’s decision to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Kissimmee reflects a focus on the state’s burgeoning Puerto Rican community.
Many Puerto Ricans have moved to Florida after Hurricane Maria devastated the island in 2017.
