A Texas woman paid heartbreaking tribute to her physician husband who died of COVID-19.
Paige King took to Facebook on Tuesday and revealed that her ‘exceptional’ husband, Dr. Carlos Araujo-Preza, 51, had succumbed to the virus the previous night in a hospital in Houston.
Araujo-Preza was a renowned pulmonologist who had been at the forefront of the ongoing pandemic and helped treat coronavirus patients when the disease affected their lungs.
“My husband, my love, my rock, my everything, Carlos Araujo-Preza, passed away last night from complications secondary to COVID-19,” a devastated king wrote on Facebook.

King took to Facebook on Tuesday and revealed that her ‘exceptional’ husband, Dr. Carlos Araujo-Preza, had died of the virus the previous evening in a hospital in Houston.
King continued, “ Since COVID-19 was introduced to our community in early 2020, Carlos, a board-certified critical care / pulmonary / internal medicine / sleep physician, has been at the forefront of the fight against this new virus.
“ I’ve been Carlos’s nurse for almost eight years now, and at the start of the pandemic, when I was terrified of both of us because of the high risk of exposure, I said to Carlos, ‘Honey, you’re not concerned about you are around COVID-19 patients? Are not you scared? In response, Carlos said to me, “ Love! Are you joking? I’m not afraid!!! I was BORN for this! ‘
King went on to explain that she was comforted by her husband’s heroism and selflessness, even as she “ struggled to accept the fact that the love of my life is no longer here with me on this earth. ”
‘I love you, my love. You were an exceptional man and I am so lucky to have called you mine. I promise I will live my life with your greatness in my heart, ”she wrote emotionally.
King had worked as her husband’s nurse for eight years, and both
Araujio-Preza last worked at HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball.
On Tuesday, the medical facility released a statement about the doctor’s death, stating that his “clinical excellence, compassionate care and kindness will be sorely missed.”
Dr. Carlos Araujo-Preza has touched so many of our lives and will always be remembered for his deep commitment to his patients, ‘she added.
Since the start of the pandemic, tens of thousands of American doctors and other health professionals have been infected with COVID-19.
