The VOD release date for Robert Eggers’ Viking revenge film is on Friday

The Norwegiana Viking revenge film from The witch (see it HERE) and The lighthouse (see it HERE) director Robert Eggers, has earned just under $ 52 million at the global box office since he hit theaters on April 22nd. Now it’s time for The Norwegian to take home, as it has been announced on the film’s official Twitter account that its VOD release date is this Friday, May 13th.

Our own Chris Bumbray has seen The Norwegian and gave it a perfect 10/10 review that you can read on THIS LINK. He described the film as an “absolute masterpiece” and “probably the best historical epic since The Kingdom of Heaven. A completely unique journey into madness and revenge in Viking style! A must-see in theaters – the sound and the visuals require it. ”

Manuscript by Eggers and Icelandic poet / novelist Sjón, The Norwegian has been described as

“a Viking revenge saga set in Iceland at the beginning of the 10th century”, which will show “how far a Viking prince will go to seek justice for his murdered father.”

The film reunites Eggers with his The witch starring Ralph Ineson and Anya Taylor-Joy. Also on the cast is Alexander Skarsgård (The stand), Nicole Kidman (To be Ricardo’s), Björk (Dancing in the dark), Ethan Hawke (Spooky), Claes Bang (The girl in the spider’s web), Olwen Fouéré (Texas chainsaw massacre), and Willem Dafoe, with whom Eggers previously worked The lighthouse.

The story was inspired by the Scandinavian legends, such as William Shakespeare’s Hamlet was based on. Skarsgård plays Amleth, who was the direct inspiration for the character Prince Hamlet.

The Norwegian was produced by Lars Knudsen, where New Regency was responsible for the financing.

I have not seen the movie yet as I have not been to the cinema since before the pandemic hit. I’m glad to hear it’s available on VOD soon. I will definitely check it out soon after it is available. Do you want to see That Norwegian on VOD? Tell us about it by leaving a comment below.
