We know there’s always something to watch on TV for sports fans. Summer is usually the quietest period of the year, especially when the FIFA World Cup is moved to the winter days, as is the case with Qatar 2022. If you are a fan of baseball or tennis, you will definitely have something to enjoy throughout the hot summer days. Of course, the action in top football competitions begins at the end of August, just before the new seasons NFL (American football), NBA (basketball) or NHL (ice hockey).
Nevertheless, if you’re a fan of movies in addition to being a sports lover, we’ve got you covered. We’ve seen some great sports movies made over the past few decades. The selection is very wide and includes all kinds and genres, but we have decided to highlight the three that you just can’t miss (if anyone has missed them now). After all, as busy as sporting events are in the world, you can always find a few hours to watch a good movie before going to bed. The results below are provided by the sports betting selection website bet Picks 4 you, running a survey of American soccer fans trying to find a connection between movies and supported teams. Stay updated and recall the memories with us.
1 – Cool Runnings – 1993
Cool Runnings is a good old classic that is worth watching several times. The story is about the first ever Jamaican bobsleigh team. Four men pursue their dreams of competing at the Olympics. They encounter several obstacles in the process, but somehow make it to Calgary in 1988. The real adventure begins the moment they land in icy Canada. The film contains several important messages that you can apply to all aspects of your life. It features some super fun scenes and is made in accordance with the real story, although it is worth noting that the director did not closely follow the real life events. Nevertheless, this movie definitely deserves the highest marks for so many reasons.
2 – Rocky – 1976
Rocky is easily the most famous sports movie ever made. We don’t think there is anyone who hasn’t seen the famous Italian stallion and his boxing challenges across five different parts. Obviously, you’ll get the best experience if you watch the first part (made in 1976) and then continue all the way to the fifth. The film tells the story of a young untrained and rather average fighter who proved to the world that he has what it takes to rise up when it matters most. Rocky Balboa has always been the underdog in his fights and you get the feeling that he has no chance of beating any of his rivals in all five parts. But the Italian stallion somehow always finds a way to please the crowd and show that hard work and training can make your dreams come true, even when victory seems impossible to achieve.
3 – Space Jam- 1996
What kind of sports movie article would it be without this legendary Warner Bros. Feature Animation movie? You all know who Michael Jordan is. Well, the mere fact that he stars in this movie says enough about it, doesn’t it? The mix of Michael Jordan and Looney Tunes characters divided critics at first, but as time went on it broke records and became the most successful basketball movie ever made in terms of profit. If anyone happened to miss the clash between Jordan and the Looney Tunes (led by Daffy Duck) against the aliens, now is the time to turn on the TV and find the movie. We promise you won’t regret it.
