Taika Waititi provides updates on the next Thor movie during Thor’s livestream: Ragnarok watch party

Celebrities, they are just like us: sit at home and watch old movies to pass the time while socializing away. However, if you are Taika Waititi and you choose to look again Thor: Ragnarok with friends Mark Ruffalo and Tessa Thompson it is a bit more extensive.

Waititi hosted an Instagram Live viewing party from Ragnarok on Thursday night, with the intention of commenting on the 2017 Marvel movie he directed. Instead, Waititi’s stream turned into an impromptu Q&A session with tens of thousands of fans tuning in, bantering back and forth with Ruffalo (Bruce Banner) and Thompson (Valkyrie), and a few updates on his upcoming Thor movie, Thor: Love and Thunder.

The livestream was a quintessential Waititi affair, with less general commentary on the movie and more hilarious random hijinks that are equally entertaining. (If you’re looking for a true director’s commentary, there’s always the Blu-ray.) Prepare for moments of pure, unadulterated joy as Waititi joyfully declares that he misses Ruffalo, and Ruffalo replies, “I miss you too, honey. ” Baby! The ultimate bromance between the two. This is the true magic of Marvel productions.

When Thor: Ragnarok was released in 2017 and has been praised for turning away from the villainous Shakespeare version of the Norse god Kenneth Branagh founded in 2011. Waititi restored Thor’s character and leaned against the madness of gods, aliens and miscreants in space. Love and thunder will build on the work done in Ragnarok, where Waititi described it as something that came from the imagination of a 10-year-old.

Waititi also used his Instagram Live stream to show off some concept art for a few recurring faces. His Instagram Live session opens with concept art by Miek, one of Thor’s prison mates Ragnarok and roommate in End. The alien has a new combat armor Love and thunder, that can be seen in art. The director also confirmed this Korg, a popular character he voiced Ragnarok, will return too Love and thunder with a much larger role.

Although I teased quite a few Love and thunder Developments in his 90-minute live stream, there were some aspects of the movie that Waititi couldn’t comment on. The director was the mother about whether Tom Hiddleston’s Loki would appear in the movie. (The character will air his own Disney Plus series in 2021.) Nor could he comment on the role of Thompson’s Valkyrie in Love and thunder, nor would he indicate who will play newcomer Christian Bale.

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently slated to hit theaters on February 28, 2022. The film should open in late 2021, but was pushed back (along with most of Marvel’s lineup) after Black WidowThe release date was affected by the pandemic.
