Later this year, Samsung will finally kill its S Voice assistant, which Apple’s Siri never really caught up with. A note on Samsung’s The support page states that S Voice will no longer be available from June 1 indicated by SamMobile.
Samsung’s first attempt at a voice assistant, S Voice, was introduced in the Galaxy S III in 2012, but was buggy and slow. Such as 9to5 Google notes, S Voice was able to set and call reminders, but was unable to answer user questions in an easy way, as Siri and Google Assistant are designed.
Samsung has essentially replaced S Voice with Bixby in phones starting with the Galaxy S8 (although Bixby itself wasn’t really impressed by reviewers from The edge during its lifetime). Some Samsung wearables still have S Voice; the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Active have Bixby upgrades available, and according to Samsung, a similar upgrade will be available for Gear S3 and Gear Sport after June 1.
