Quaden Bayles’ mother reveals how the birth of her son put her into a deep depression

Quaden Bayles’ mother – the Australian boy who made headlines when he threatened to commit suicide after being plagued by his dwarfism – said her son’s condition was a devastating blow that destroyed her relationship with the boy’s father.

Nine-year-old Quaden’s emotional torment was captured in a video filmed by his mother Yarraka in February as he cried after being bullied at school.

Yarraka has revealed that the incident was the culmination of the many hardships the family had faced since Quaden was diagnosed with achondroplasia when he was just three days old.

Achondroplasia is the most common type of dwarfism and is caused by a genetic mutation.

‘I told myself the doctors misdiagnosed him. And I just couldn’t accept it. He looked perfect and he still does, ”Yarraka said ABC.

‘It was really daunting. It has put me in a deep depression, probably for the first two years. ‘

Her struggles caused a split with her partner, Quaden senior, who she saw split shortly before Quaden’s third birthday.

The couple had been together for over 10 years before Quaden was born.

Those 10 years were far from easy, with Yarraka conceiving twins, Guyala and Yilan, when she was only 17.

But the couple made it.

When Quaden finally arrived, the couple was in a much better situation financially and emotionally, and for the first three days, everything was perfect.

But then came the crushing news that their little boy’s arms and legs would never grow up.

“Everything crashed,” said Yarraka.

“I felt robbed because I couldn’t enjoy the birth of my beautiful baby.”

During his short life, Yarraka had to stand by Quaden’s side as he was being treated for physical problems related to dwarfism.

He needs surgery for a compressed spine and he also needs a special machine to help him sleep, otherwise he will have respiratory failure.

Last month, Quaden underwent his eleventh operation in just nine years.

He was admitted to Queensland Children’s Hospital to have eight of his teeth removed because his mouth was overcrowded.

Ms. Bayles took to Facebook and shared an X-ray of Quaden’s mouth to let his followers know about the operation.

“Quaden just went under anesthesia and needed 8 extra teeth 7 years after removing 7 teeth due to overcrowding, as you can see from his most recent X-ray,” she wrote.

“We all know he’s got a big mouth, but just not big enough for all those teeth trying to get through, bless him.”

Mrs. Bayles later shared an adorable photo of Quaden with his feet up and looking relaxed as he recovers from surgery.

‘Recover like a champ and ready to go home today YAY!’ the message was captioned.

Quaden’s story went viral in February after his mother filmed him crying and said he wanted to end his life after being badly bullied by his classmates.

The brave boy received letters of support from celebrities and citizens around the world.

In the heartbreaking footage, Quaden is seen sobbing into the camera and saying that he is suicidal for being brutally bullied.

He said to his mother, “Give me a rope, I want to kill myself.”

“I just want to stick myself in my heart … I want someone to kill me.”

Quaden also scratched his neck and said, “I want to die … I want to scratch myself.”

Ms. Bayles shared the video publicly on Facebook to raise awareness about the impact of bullying.
