Men’s Fashion Week 2016 Trends

New York Fashion Week: Men’s has joined the London
Collections Men and the Fashion Weeks dedicated to menswear in Paris in Milan. With
over 60 shows in NYC, menswear designers echoed and completed the trends
already set in Europe.

Check out the most important Men’s Fashion Week 2016 trends,
and find out which looks will be the hottest next spring, whether you want to
stick to the most stylish suits or keep it casual. Gray, along with black and
white, made a big impact on the runways, but there were also plenty of bright
colors in the Spring 2016 menswear collections.

Gray

One of the major trends at New York Fashion Week: Men’s,
gray was featured in a lot of different ways, from solids to plaids and prints.

Thom Browne, Billy Reid, Ovadia & Sons, and Richard Chai led the pack with
a wide variety of grays, and the NYC runways went a lot further than just fifty
shades.

Military Inspiration

From camo prints to military uniform detailing, military
chic was one of the biggest Men’s Fashion Week 2016 trends. In Paris and Milan,
Canali, Balmain and Umit Benan showed military details, while camouflage showed
up as a hot print in collections from Dior Homme, Ermanno Scervino and Neil
Barrett. With an urban flair, the military trend is back.

Vertical Stripes

Pinstripes are making a comeback with a modern flair.
Vertical stripes of all sizes and colors made a splash on the runways in
collections from Givenchy, Comme des Garçons Homme Plus, Bottega Veneta, and Haider
Ackermann. Bold and big is the way to go, and striped tops and bottom are also
a trendy combination, as long as you keep everything vertical.

Black and White

You might think that neutrals ruled Men’s Fashion Week 2016
trends, but black and white weren’t just used as solids. Instead, prints are
the most exciting way to try this trend. Kenneth Ning, Tim Coppens, McQ, and
Public School proved that black and white prints can be just as exciting as
bright colors, so look out for this simple combo next spring.

Silk and Lace

While menswear has had a strong influence on women’s fashion
for a long time, the feminine touch is really breaking out in Spring 2016 men’s
collection. Printed silks and lace were seen in plenty of collections. Silk was
a favorite at Valentino, Louis Vuitton, and Les Hommes with bright colors,
while lace made a splash at Moschino, Burberry Prorsum, MSGM, and Gucci.

Tartans and Plaids

Definitely one of the major Men’s Fashion Week 2016 trends,
plaid and tartan showed up in a wide variety of colors and interpretations,
from shirts to pants. MSGM, Saint Laurent and Sacai. Outwear plaid in darker
colors is still trendy, but brighter shades could be having a big moment next
spring.

Botanical Prints

From delicate florals to big and almost abstract botanical
prints, there’s no wrong way to wear this trend next year. Whether you prefer
colorful silks or a more professional looking suit, florals, vines and even
fruit motifs have showed up in collections from Dolce & Gabbana, Dior
Homme, Hermès, Saint Laurent, and Gucci.

Jumpsuits

The urban nomad trend has finally found a statement piece,
the jumpsuit, which is also one of the big Men’s Fashion Week 2016 trends. From
Valentino, Givenchy and Kenzo to 3.1 Philip Lim, Ricardo Seco and Fendi, the
jumpsuit is definitely trending in a big way, in a wide variety of shapes and
colors.

Wider Leg Pants

Skinny jeans aren’t going away by Spring 2016, but trousers
with wider legs are could be turning into a major trend, following the cue of
women’s fashion. Relaxed pants with wider legs were seen on the runway in
collections from Giorgio Armani, Dries Van Noten, Acne Studios, and Tiger of
Sweden, and this trend is particularly well suited to high waist pants.

Crumpling

The days when a single wrinkle in your suit could ruin your
whole look seem to be gone. One of the big Men’s Fashion Week 2016 trends
includes plenty of texture. Creases and wrinkles all over provide a fresh
approach, and they were spotted on the runways during shows from Kenzo, Paul
Smith and Yohji Yamamoto.
