Grant Morrison On Wake Green Lantern is pansexual as Captain Kirk

Last week, Bleeding Cool listed a two-week-old Xanaduum Substack Grant Morrison where they described writing Hal Jordan as pansexual, given the amount of involvement with all sorts of alien beings. After which all sorts of websites like Screen Rant, Comic Book and others suddenly also noticed it. And so did the pearl-clad YouTube channels and the like, back-to-back-to-the-forehead, who exclaimed the fumes. Grant Morrison addressed the three-week delayed response to their Substack today as part of their flashback to their revelation Green Lantern season two drive with Liam Sharp.

I mentioned in an earlier section how I happened to want to hint at Hal Jordan’s pansexual nature, but I was a little surprised to hear reports of a sudden burst of raised voices, all despite the fact that I showed absolutely no interest in anything else, I have ever had to say, suddenly found the energy and motivation to express what can only be described as a serious disapproval of my completely harmless proposal … I sympathize with those who feel the crumbling walls of past certainties threatened by modernity irreconcilable tides, and I understand just as well as any other appeal of distracting trivia in a time of global instability and existential danger, but it was never my intention to create outrage

Grant then listed all sorts of romantic entanglements of Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern, with alien species over the years, from all sorts of creators, from the sixties to the present, indicating;

To promote the suggestion that space travel Lothario Hal Jordan may be as pansexual as e.g. Captain Kirk, when the evidence in the canon of his connections with non-human beings through decades is irrefutable, seems to be less provocation, more simple observation!

These are characters that have been around since before many of us were born. I have not created them or their background stories. I only draw attention to what has always been there, as to inadvertently point out that many of the same so-called progressive ideas, complete with predictable reactionary reactions, have been with us on repetition since the beginning of human history, and here is John Broome speaking. about loving the alien all the way back in 1965.
