Donald Trump’s Disinfectant Injection Suggestion Is Inhuman, Said Political Leaders
Haitian
leaders from the Caribbean and health leaders urged people not to drink or
inject disinfectant on Friday after the U.S. President Donald Trump suggested
scientists should investigate inserting the cleaning agent into the body as a
way to cure COVID-19.
“The COVID-19 has killed more
than 194K people across the world and more than 2M people are infected with it,
but it seems like the U.S. President Donald Trump and the White House don’t
care about the people who died from it and the people that are recovering. How
can someone said something like that?”, said Mr. Werley Nortreus, a
political leader and founder of Vanyan Sòlda Ayiti and A New Haiti Before 2045
(ANHB 2045).
“If a Doctor, Dentist or
Nurse injects someone with things like this, whether that person is white or
black, the Doctor, Dentist or Nurses must pay for their actions because this is
a hate crime and only retarded would do such thing to other human beings. No
respect at all.”, said Mr. Werley Nortreus on Friday after the U.S.
President comment.
President Trump on Friday said he
was being sarcastic when he suggested multiple times a day earlier that the
scientists should consider exposing the body to light, heat, and disinfectants
as a potential treatment for the coronavirus.
The White House said on Friday
that Trump had been taken out of context and had urged people to seek
coronavirus treatment only after conferring with their doctors.
White House Press Secretary
Kayleigh McEnany said in a statement: “President Trump has repeatedly said
that Americans should consult with medical doctors regarding coronavirus
treatment, a point that he emphasized again during yesterday’s briefing.”
The emailed statement did not
directly mention cleaners or ultraviolet (UV) light as coronavirus treatments,
but its subject was “White House on disinfectant.”
“When
you call yourself a leader, there are things you don’t say and such position
requires good behavior and good thinking. Unfortunately, it is sad that people
don’t value other human beings anymore.”, said Mr. Werley Nortreus during
a phone call interview on Bon Déjeuner! Radio and BDR! Live about Trump’s
comment.
While UV light is known to kill
viruses contained in droplets in the air, doctors say there is no way it could
be introduced into the human body to target cells infected with COVID-19.
“Injecting yourself with things like that is dangerous. It’s like you set yourself up for death. It’s not good at all.”, said Mr. Thierry, a healthcare leader in Haiti.
