A California doctor says the new coronavirus is currently the leading cause of death in the U.S.

Dr. Maria Danilychev, who practices hospice / palliative medicine in San Diego, calculated that COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, kills about 748 Americans every day.

This means fewer people die from chronic lung disease, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, stroke, kidney disease – and even seasonal flu.

Only two conditions – heart disease and cancer – are more deadly than the coronavirus, killing 1,774 and 1,641 people daily, respectively.

Dr. Danilychev has one graphic charting the rapid increase in coronavirus deaths compared to other diseases across the country.

She used data from Worldmeters.info – a website with statistics and data – and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Between March 1 and March 20, COVID-19 caused some of the least deaths, from 0 deaths per day to 50 per day.

But on March 21, the virus exceeded lung obstruction. Parkinson’s, high blood pressure, sepsis and liver disease slowly increased.

On March 25, coronavirus was the seventh leading cause of death, killing 249 people every day. It was fifth on March 27, before finishing third the next day.

According to the CDC, heart disease kills 647,000 Americans a year, while cancer kills 595,000 a year,

Accidents, which were previously the third leading cause of death, kill approximately 169,000 people annually, the CDC says.

Figures of The New York Times have previously estimated that Coronavirus could kill more Americans in 2020 than cancer, heart disease or dementia.

In an average scenario, where there is an overall infection rate of 30 percent and a death rate of two percent, coronavirus is said to cause 1.97 million deaths – pending heart disease and cancer.

In the worst case, 6.99 million Americans would die of the coronavirus – 2.74 million of whom are over 80.

This is a situation where 70 percent of the population is infected and there is a three percent death rate.

That would be 10 times as many American deaths as from heart disease and 11 times as many deaths as from cancer.

However, this probably doesn’t include interventions like drive-thru testing, excluding visitors from nursing homes – and other social distance measures.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told CNNs State of the Union on the weekend that he expects between 100.00 and 200,000 Americans to die

Currently, more than 911,000 people worldwide are infected and more than 45,000 people have died.

In the United States and regions, there are more than 200,000 confirmed cases and more than 4,000 deaths.
