Barcelona is reportedly interested in Brazilian teenage striker Gustavo Maia

Barcelona reportedly agreed to pay an initial € 1 million for the 19-year-old, with an additional € 3.5 million to secure 70% of his economic rights.

Passaro said: ‘We have a purchase option (on Maia) for € 1 million if Barcelona wants to buy it during the season.

His total release clause is $ 4.5 million, with an additional $ 3.5 million to pay.

“The deal is structured this way to avoid losing players in the middle of the season.”

It is stated that Barcelona was keen to pay the first € 1 million, but has since been delayed due to the restructuring of the payment schedule.

However, it is expected that this will not fail the deal, as Barcelona wants to acquire a majority stake, Sao Paulo will retain a 30% stake in the highly valued forward.

Maia has not yet played at senior level, but has played for the youth teams of clubs and countries

Arriving at the renowned Cotia Academy of Sao Paulo – which has produced Kaka, Casemiro and Lucas Moura, among others – at the age of 13, Maia has also represented his country at both 16 and 17 levels.

At the beginning of the year, during the Copinha youth club tournament, Maia’s three goals in seven games were promoted to the senior team.

He was expected to make his professional debut, but this was postponed because the Sao Paulo state championship was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
