The sharper among you will have noticed that despite my great announcement to the contrary in 2015, I have actually never retired Summer of Blood, the beloved (at least for me, and I am the only one who counts in this scenario ) annual tradition at the late Antagony & Ecstasy, where I grind my way through endless waves of horrible horror movies for months. I just hid it behind a bunch of little gimmicks – “oh, I’m just watching all the Amityville movies for no reason”, “it’s not summer if it’s just a month”, “well, it’s not summer in Australia!” , “I thought it would be a good idea to burn a whole year of my life off, damn it, look at every hell Witchcraft“. But why keep the lists? I’m nearing the end of my graduate school career, the point where I promised to bring the function back. The only thing left right now is to fill in the parts of the diss that are missing (these pieces are called “two whole chapters”, no big deal).
And in the spirit of filling up the pieces, I have a special theme for this summer. Scattered across my review archive are a lot of incomplete series of horror movies: either I reviewed everything that existed but then they made more, or else I just did not want to deal with the sequels at the time, or such things. So I’ve decided to spend every Saturday from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day (it’s May 28 to September 3, for you non-Americans) patching some holes.
And good news for those of you who support the site as a donor through Patreon: You get the reviews a whole week early! Which means the first review is coming later today, so if you can’t wait for all the fun, head over to Patreon, and for as little as $ 1 / month you can get early access to Summer of Blood and other classic movies reviews.
For those of you who want to watch, the complete program follows.
