Enough with the Amazon Prime Day 2020 date delays and speculation. The official details have been announced by Amazon and the deal marathon will finally take place next month.
Prime Day 2020 deals begin on Tuesday, October 13 and continue through Wednesday, October 14, and will last 48 hours, according to the company. As in previous years, sales are exclusive to Prime customers, so you need a membership, or at least the 30 days Free trial of Amazon Prime.
This Amazon Prime Day date has been a long time coming. Amazon’s semi-annual deals usually take place in July, a way to get us started every year through Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Now, due to the Covid-19 delays, all three of these shopping events will emerge. That seems like a good thing for consumers eager to see price drops on AirPods, cheap laptops and 4K TVs.

Spend early to help small businesses
One of the main differences this year leading up to Prime Day is a new initiative from Amazon to encourage buyers to spend money on small businesses – and you can see that you’re getting bigger discounts on Prime Day deals.
If you spend $ 10 / £ 10 with select companies, Amazon will refund that amount to you to use on Prime Day itself as a way to support these smaller outlets.
They are not all small businesses, and you will have to go there Amazon’s dedicated small business support page to find the eligible products (it’s not easy to see which ones are part of the program just by browsing the site as you should see the little banner ‘support small businesses like this’ at the top of the product listing) you are Already on the market for things like pet supplies or electronic accessories, this is an easy way to get a $ 10 / £ 10 voucher on Prime Day.
Prime Day deals predicted
Amazon Prime Day 2020 will be very different from previous Prime Days for a number of reasons: dates have shifted, new popular video game consoles are launching (namely PS5 and Xbox Series X), and people haven’t been in stores in large numbers in months.
Prime Day deals can help ease that pent-up demand for deeply discounted online shopping and, in turn for Amazon, attract more members to the Prime subscription service.
No coincidence about timing, Amazon has also just launched a new line of Amazon Echo and Ring products. The new Amazon Echo (2020) range is spherical, more powerful, and will (apparently, since we haven’t been able to try it in these Covid-focused times) sound more impressive too.
The Kids Echo range has animal prints on the top to make them more friendly to talk to, and the new Ring Dash Cam will be a big push this year.
Our prediction is that the new Fire TV Stick, and especially the new Fire TV Stick Lite, will be huge Amazon Prime Day deals this year.
Since they just launched, it would be odd if they were already discounted (although we can’t see Prime Day showing a Fire TV stick not for sale at a lower price than RRP, so maybe it will) but as part of a bundle with other devices, we think this is going to be a big hit.
What else is happening?
In the US, Amazon is facing new competition from its biggest rival: Walmart just named something Walmart Plus, which aims to compete with Prime, at least when it comes to fast shipping and discounts on everyday items.
We expect some other retailers and brands to launch competitive sales at the same time to get some of the spending frenzy that usually accompanies Prime Day (remember, Amazon made more from its own sales in July last year than it did in Black Friday, which is demonstrates the importance of this brand), and we will update you on what the competitors are doing.
Oh, and let’s not forget the strong rumors that the iPhone will launch on the same day – if you’re an Apple fan and still want to buy a cheap Echo, Ring Video Doorbell Pro, or improve your home Wi-Fi. Fi network, get your deals around early.
Prime Day gives Amazon a way to launch deals ahead of its competitors, as October isn’t quite right for even the earliest Black Friday deals. In other words, it’s going to be a long deal season at Amazon starting October 13.
