Mike Zimmer lands on his toes – newsdubai

We haven’t actually heard a lot from Mike Zimmer for the reason that Minnesota Vikings fired him the day after the 2021 common season ended. However he’s again on the earth of soccer, touchdown on his toes someplace you won’t instantly consider.

Zimmer will work for coach Deion Sanders at Jackson State College, the place HBCU Gameday experiences he has accepted a job as an analyst on Sanders’ employees.

In keeping with Zimmer, Sanders performed a big function in his acceptance of the place.

“He can open so many doorways for these younger males, however I’m very impressed with the best way he teaches them about life and never simply soccer. And caring for them and speaking to them about the true issues which might be occurring on the earth, and never fluff.

Sanders has made a giant splash within the school soccer world since taking up the Jackson State sideline earlier than the 2021 season. That features luring the nation’s No. 1 recruit within the class of 2022, Travis Hunter, to keep away from the bigger-name colleges that got here calling in favor of taking part in for Sanders with the Tigers.

Zimmer is finest identified for his teaching profession within the NFL, but additionally spent loads of time as a part of the faculty recreation. He coached within the school ranks from 1979 to 1993, with stints at Missouri, Weber State and Washington State, the place he spent 5 years because the Cougars’ defensive coordinator earlier than leaping to the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys. When he first got here to Dallas, Zimmer was the defensive backs coach. . .the place he coached Deion Sanders.

Good for Mike Zimmer for touchdown a job at Jackson State and Coach Prime. My guess is that when Deion calls, Zimmer will actually seize the opposite finish.
