Folie À Deux’ Teaser Confirms Lady Gaga Casting
The first teaser for Joker: Madness For Two has been released online, confirming Lady Gaga’s casting and the film’s October 4, 2024 release date.
Fans have been eager to see a sequel for 2019’s Joker ever since the original film was released, though it wasn’t always clear whether the prospect of a sequel appealed to either director Todd Phillips or star Joaquin Phoenix.
Earlier this year, the duo teased that a sequel was in the works, with the title Joker: Madness For Two and rumors soon surfaced that Lady Gaga was in talks to appear as Harley Quinn. Now the first teaser has confirmed Gaga’s appearance.
Early reports and rumors have suggested Joker: Madness For Two will be a musical, and while the first teaser doesn’t directly confirm this, it hints that the film will be musically driven.
The teaser confirms that both Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga appear in the film Joker the sequel and their silhouettes are seen dancing to the tunes of “Cheek to Cheek”. Although the teaser does not mention the character Lady Gaga will be playing, her dance with the Joker seems to confirm the rumors that she is taking on the role of Harley Quinn.

Joaquin Phoenix was spotted busting a few dance moves in the 2019s Joker, which turns surrealist dance performances into reflections of Arthur Fleck’s psychological lineage. The teaser seems to confirm Madness for two will continue this motif, as well as expand the first film’s genre-bending approach to a comic book film.
In a week that has seen Leslie Grace’s Batgirl cancelled, and the future of many DC projects at Warner Bros. Discovery questioned which reveals Joker: Madness For Two is on track for release in 2024, will be welcome news for many DC fans.

Centering on the iconic arch-enemy, director Todd Phillips’ “Joker” is an original, standalone fictional story never seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is about a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s divided society. A clown for hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic by night…but finds that the joke always seems to be on him.
