Buffalo Bills donates $ 400,000 to neighborhoods hit by racially motivated killings
The Buffalo Bills are Buffalo. No NFL team has a stronger bond with the community it plays in.
It’s not surprising that Bills is leading the way when it comes to helping the Buffalo community get past the racist-motivated killing of 10 citizens over the weekend by an 18-year-old who was motivated to murder by the racist and anti- Semitic “replacement theory” that has been dealt with aftermath of mainstream news media.
The Bills announced Wednesday that the Buffalo Bills Foundation and NFL Foundation have teamed up to donate $ 400,000 to help Buffalo’s East Side community in the wake of Saturday’s targeted attacks on black citizens.
Of that amount, $ 200,000 will go to the Buffalo Together Community Response Fund. The rest will be given to various non-profit organizations working on emergency preparedness to meet the immediate needs of East Side residents.
“This is just the beginning of the Buffalo Bills effort, and we are committed to doing more for the community as the days and weeks go by,” the team said.
Players showed up in large numbers Wednesday in the East Side community to support those affected by the situation. Players including quarterback Josh Allen wore black T-shirts with the team logo and the message “Choose Love.”
“‘Choose love’ is a motto, I think maybe that we should start adopting as a country, ”Quarterback Josh Allen told reporters at Wednesday’s event. “That’s the golden rule. Treat them the way you want to be treated. What happened here was – it’s disgusting, disgusting. There are so many different words you can use, and none of them are nice. “Again, we are here to brighten people’s days and try to help get past this and share the grief with our community, and let them know that we care and we want to keep it with them.”
Bill’s fans, or fans of any other team that wants to help (as Bill’s fans often do with non-Buffalo cases), can get more information here about opportunities to help.
Meanwhile, the NFL and its teams should also use their votes to hold the media accountable, which essentially pulls the strings that help put hatred in the worst possible form of action. The league and its teams are not shy about objecting to far less important matters. The league gives its massive influence to problems like this can contribute to a much needed solution.
