Disney brings Frozen 2 to Disney Plus three months early during a corona virus pandemic

Disney has decided to make it incredibly popular Frozen 2 three months earlier to its Disney Plus streaming service “Surprising families with fun and joy during this challenging time,” as the country battles the new corona virus pandemic.
‘Frozen 2 has captivated audiences around the world through his powerful themes of perseverance and the importance of family, messages that are incredibly relevant today, “said Bob Chapek, Disney’s newly appointed CEO, in a news release.
Bring Frozen 2 to Disney Plus at a time when more people are working from home and closing schools, it is also an opportunity for Disney to strengthen additional subscribers. Other streaming services like Netflix and Hulu (also owned by Disney) are likely to spend more time watching titles while people stay indoors. Frozen 2, who raised $ 1.4 billion worldwide, setting a new animated film record, is a long-awaited title for Disney Plus subscribers.
Asking if Disney could bring some of the expected titles, such as Mulan and New mutantsDisney Plus also began circulating online after the studio announced that both films had been delayed. Bring Frozen 2 going to Disney Plus three months earlier is much different than taking a movie like Mulan and make it an exclusive streaming. Studios like Disney still earn an impressive return on investment when they publish event-type movies Mulan in theaters. The global cash register in 2019 alone saw $ 42.2 billion. That’s the kind of money that no amount of streaming subscriptions can easily match.
This is a rare event where Disney broke a release window to bring a movie to its streaming service. In November, Disney announced that Avengers: Endgame is said to be a launch title alongside Disney Plus on November 12. Former CEO Bob Iger had previously told investors Endgame would be available for steam in December 2019. Kevin Mayer, the head of Disney’s direct-to-consumer services, told the press that it was a one-time event where a movie that still fell within the home release window was cut short. Exceptions have been made Endgame because of the launch of Disney Plus.
That said, there were only a few weeks left in the home release window anyway. Three months is a much longer period of time, but shows Disney’s dedication to its streaming platform.
Frozen 2 will stream to subscribers to US Disney Plus starting March 15. International subscribers, including Canada, the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand, can do this on March 17.
