UFC President Dana White was ready to reveal he was switching to boxing

UFC President Dana White has revealed that his foray into the boxing world will be detailed in the coming weeks.

White has been considering a move into the sport for a while and the legendary MMA promoter is on the brink of a major announcement.

He told BT Sport: ‘The boxing world has not been able to do what I have been able to do [in MMA] in the past 20 years.

‘If they can’t do things when the world is normal, you can’t expect them to do things when the world is crazy.

‘Over the past year I looked under the hood a lot. Looked at different things and I said, “I don’t know a man, I don’t know if this can be fixed.” ‘

He added: “Funnily enough, since the pandemic, I’ve looked at other options as well.

‘And we will probably have something to report here soon. Yes [it is in the world of boxing].

White gave an interview in which he explained what he had done to study the world of boxing

‘When it’s time, I’ll let you know, I’m not ready yet. But [it’ll be] in the coming weeks. ‘

It remains to be seen whether White will work with a stable of boxers or have more grandiose ambitions to change the intricate way of the sport.

Over the years, White has been a key part of the UFC’s success and the growth of MMA into a legitimate sport sanctioned all over the United States.

He orchestrated the move to Fight Island in Abu Dhabi to host some major events during the coronavirus pandemic as a major contingency plan.

UFC 253 on Yas Island takes place this Saturday and is headlined by Israel Adesanya vs Paulo Costa.
