OnePlus Watch release date, price, news and leaks

There haven’t been many exciting Wear OS watches lately, but that could soon change as it is rumored that OnePlus has a smartwatch in the works referred to simply as the OnePlus Watch due to leaks.
We don’t know much about the wearable yet, but it sounds like it has been in development for a while, and evidence suggests it could land this year – possibly alongside the OnePlus 8T.
Below you’ll find everything we’ve heard about the OnePlus Watch so far, including possible release timing, specs, features and more. We’ll also update this article when we hear something new, so check back often if you want to stay up to date with the OnePlus Watch.
Cut to the chase
- What is it? The first smartwatch from OnePlus
- When is it out? Unknown but possibly this year
- What will it cost? We’re not sure yet
OnePlus Watch release date and price
There is no real news as to when the OnePlus Watch will be announced, but it has been seen on both the IMDA (Infocomm Media Development Authority) website (where it is specifically referred to as the OnePlus Watch) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) . ).
Those are both places it’s likely to be listed before it goes on sale in certain parts of the world, and those entries are likely to be released soon – suggesting the OnePlus Watch will be announced pretty soon.
Our best bet for when is next to the OnePlus 8T, which itself will likely land in September, October or November. We can’t get more specific than that as there aren’t any rumors about the launch date yet, but OnePlus usually launches new T-model phones during that part of the year.
As for the price of the OnePlus Watch, we have even less of that. Not only are there no price rumors at the time of writing, but there is no previous model to go on either.
There’s the recent Oppo Watch, which starts at £ 229 (around $ 300, AU $ 420). We mention this because OnePlus and Oppo share the same parent company and their phones often have things in common, but rumors suggest the OnePlus Watch will look very different from the Oppo Watch, so we wouldn’t expect the prices to be comparable.
News and leaks
The main leak of OnePlus Watch refers to the shape of the screen, with @maxjmb (a leaker with a good track record) claims on Twitter that it will have a round screen.
Many don’t seem to understand, so I’ll clarify. The watch is round. WOTCH https://t.co/HkevfvMfgTSeptember 10, 2020
That, in turn, suggests that it won’t have too much in common with the Oppo Watch (which has a square display), despite the two companies often launching similar devices.
In addition, we heard from a former OnePlus employee that the company “has been actively looking for a smartwatch in the past year.”
Indeed, it appears the company has revived the project as it unveiled sketches years ago for an abandoned smartwatch – one that itself had a circular screen.
We can also be reasonably sure that the OnePlus Watch will run Wear OS as the company makes Android phones and may use the recent Snapdragon Wear 4100 or 4100 Plus chipset.
There is no specific rumor about this, but it would be the obvious choice as most of the alternative options are now quite old. If so, it can provide better battery life and performance than most Wear OS watches.
